This week, PointBet, a global online betting company, announced an entirely new addition to PointBet Canada’s team. According to the game brand, Brett Jackman will now take over as vice president of strategy at Pointbet Canada. With his new role, Jackman will report to Scott Vanderwell, the department’s CEO.
Mr. Jackman has nearly 15 years of hands-on experience, so he has a lot of professional experience as a leader in strategy and innovation. In the meantime, he has advised many large North American companies on how to improve their growth strategy initiatives, as well as top priorities such as new markets and product launches, enterprise innovation, and M&A.
After the presentation, Mr. Jackman shared a few words about his new mission. He believes the opening of a regulated iGaming market in Ontario is one of Canada’s most exciting business opportunities recently. He now expects Pointbet Canada to play a role in enabling it to take advantage of this amazing opportunity.
Prior to joining a sports betting company, he worked for Rogers Communications and was senior director of corporate strategy. It was Mr. Jackman’s responsibility to help drive long-term strategies throughout RCI’s key business activities, while being a top strategic advisor and thinking partner of senior leadership. He played a big role in the company’s deal to acquire Shaw Communications.
Vanderwell, CEO of PointsBet Canada, praised the company’s new vice president of strategy. He noted that Mr. Jackman’s expertise and vision would be paramount in shaping the company’s priorities. The CEO said Sportsbook has some big plans for the future and is very happy to join Mr. Jackman.
Prior to working for RCI, Mr. Jackman worked as a senior consultant for an international strategic consulting firm called Accenture Strategy. His job was to focus on customers in technology, media, and communications. The new vice president of strategy also holds a master’s degree in business administration from Ivey Business School and a bachelor’s degree in business and medicine from Western Ontario University.
Just days before Ontario’s new online gaming and sports betting market began, PointBet Canada announced its partnership with the Ottawa Red Blacks. The deal made the company the official sports betting partner of the current season team. The sports book will also provide sponsorship for the Pointbet sideline club with over 800 seats at TD Place.
